We saw one too many re-branded ali cheap metal tins being marketed as the "ultimate" blah blah blah.
We carry nice things and like fun machines. Why carry around the ugly plastic tins, or some chinese made tin.
Inspired by the precision mechanisms of some of our favorite things, scope turrets, a high end ratcheting wrench, safe-vault, you get the idea, we decided the Chucan needed a mechanism, not just a press fit, or screw top lid.
It also needed too hold up to the kinds of abuse we subject all of our shit to, and to not spill open when you fat finger fumble it.
So with our high tech 5-axis mills and robots, and about 75 prototypes scatted across the office, we finally dialed in the clicks, size, weight, and the f*%king springs.
We couldn't agree on what spring to use, some liked it softer, some louder and grittier. So... more prototypes and then the lightbulb went off, find a spring everyone likes. Wrong.
That doesn't exist.
So we made it adjustable within the range of the millionth spring we tested, and it became satisfiable to all of us.
